The Asia-Europe Foundation University Alumni Network (ASEFUAN) and the Institute for Globalization and International Regulation (IGIR) is pleased to announce that the ASEFUAN/IGIR Dialogues on Trade and Public Health took place at the Brussels Campus of the Maastricht University on Friday 8 April 2011. There were about 20 participants from academia, civil society, companies, law firms, and European institutions.
The April edition of the ASEFUAN/IGIR Dialogues discussed two main topics: Regulations of "Medicines in Transit" and the new Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) and their implication on the WTO system. The subtopics were as follows:
- Seizure of Medicines in Transit – the European implications and debate
- Seizure of Medicines in Transit – the WTO Implications
- Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) – Background and Purpose
- ACTA – Implications: General and For Access to Medicines
